Nurturing Your Child's Potential

The Greater Naples YMCA has consistently served over 200 children annually, earning the distinction as our area’s largest preschool. The caring and compassionate teachers have modeled a program that has produced some of the highest school readiness scores in the county.

Our educators all have Early Childhood Education experience and at least 45 hours of training required by the Department of Children & Families in toddler/pre-school development. Many of our educators have their Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials or a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education and are CPR and First Aid certified. The YMCA believes in quality care, and the teacher to child ratio is lower than state requirements.

Educators in our preschool program have all received the necessary training in how all the pieces of the Creative Curriculum fit together. The training includes:

  • Implementing the Creative Curriculum in a YMCA Early Childhood program.
  • Introducing the curriculum: How children develop and learn, what children learn, learning environment, the teacher's role and the family's role.
  • Workshops on interest areas: Blocks, dramatic play, toys, art, discovery, music and movement, computers and outdoor activities.
  • Workshops on what children learn (core components).

A History of Excellence

The Apple Blossom Award program selects an annual Teacher of the Year and additional Distinguished Teachers from all, infant through preschool, teachers in Collier County. Since 2007, our YMCA Preschool has had at least one nominated teacher and has often times taken home the highest honor of having the Collier Apple Blossom Teacher of the Year.
