Dr. Amy S. Chappell, M.D.
Dr. Chappell, aka “Dr. Amy”, is a board certified neurologist with special competence in child neurology. She graduated from Indiana University Medical School then completed 2 years of pediatrics and an epilepsy fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Medical Center after which she returned to Indiana and completed a neurology residency. She was on the full-time faculty in the neurology department of the Indiana University Medical Center until being hired as a clinical research physician by Eli Lilly and Company. She retired from Lilly Research Laboratories in January, 2014, after 25 years in clinical research.
She designed and conducted clinical trials through all phases of development in neurological disorders including epilepsy, ALS, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, migraine and pain disorders (fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, chronic low back pain, lumbar radiculopathy, spinal cord injury). She was the lead physician for the development of duloxetine for fibromyalgia which resulted in an FDA-approval.
During her career at Lilly Dr. Chappell continued to practice neurology on a volunteer basis as clinical associate professor at the Indiana University Medical Center. She is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, a board member of the American Society of Experimental Neurotherapeutics. and a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Child Neurology Society, and the Society of Tennis Medicine and Science.
In 2014 pursuing a lifelong passion for wellness and physical fitness, Dr. Amy joined the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and became certified in The Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP).
Dr. Amy is a licensed Florida physician and a full-time resident of Naples. She is married with 2 grown sons.
