Counselor in Training
Leaders Made Here
The Counselor-in-Training Program at the Greater Naples YMCA is designed to offer qualified young people an opportunity to prepare for positions as camp counselors or recreation leaders.
This unique program is designed especially for teenagers and a careful balance of program components has been created to foster creativity, adventure, peer interaction, leadership skills and friendships that will last a lifetime.
This program gives participants the opportunity to place the needs of others ahead of their own, share what they have learned and be a role model for younger campers. CITs will be assigned to a specific age group and work with the senior and junior counselor for the summer, attend field trips and staff meetings and be an active participant in Camp Wyhoway.
Participation in the CIT program is by selection. Those interested in the program must complete an application process, which includes an application, references, and an interview. The CIT student will gain valuable experience working within a structured day camp environment, building on their resume for college admission.
The program is broken down into two sessions. CIT's may select more both sessions, but are required to do at least 5 consecutive weeks Monday through Friday. Sessions are limited to 20 spots each.
REGISTRATION: We are accepting applications through May 14th. Selections will be made shortly after.
